Bootleg Cursive Show at CD Central

Nadine and I made it to Lexington, KY with enough time to see Cursive perform a free 6 song acoustic set at CD Central before the show later that evening at The Dame.

I used the voice recorder app to bootleg the show. The acoustic set was great and I’m hoping that at some point cursive put out some sort of acoustic “best of” album or something, that would be great. Anyways, the recordings are not bad considering I recorded them from my shirt pocket. enjoy!

Setlist

  1. Caveman (From Mama, I’m Swollen)
  2. Making Friends And Acquaintances (From Domestica)
  3. Rise Up! Rise Up! (From Happy Hollow)
  4. Sierra (From The Ugly Organ)
  5. Love Cats (The Cure Cover)
  6. From the Hips (From Mama, I’m Swollen)

Arcade Fire – Neon Bible

Nadine’s Review

Neon Bible, Arcade Fire’s 2nd album (2007), is pretty good.
I personally liked Funeral better, Neon Bible definitely sounds more polished.
Strong points: Big sounds, bands with more than 4 members are just better, lots of sound texture. Also enjoyed the remake of No Cars Go. My Body Is A Cage Brings the whole album together, encompassing all the great aspects of the record.
Weak points: Régine Chassagne, I just don’t like her voice, but her instrumentation is perfection.

Neat feature of the vinyl: Record 2, side B is etched with the bibles seen on the sleeve.

As Scott mentions below, Arcade Fire give an amazing, high-energy live show. You should see them, make it happen.

Scott’s Review

Neon Bible is a great followup to Arcade Fire’s Funeral album and they seem to be solidifying their sound and continuing to write catchy indie songs with great instrumentation. There are many great tracks consisting of acoustic/electric guitars, bass, strings and drums with the random accordion, organ or other eclectic instrument sprinkled in.

I had the pleasure of seeing them live in the Summer of 2008 at Waterfront park in Louisville, KY. They put on a great live performance, If you have the chance to see them perform, do it, you will not be disappointed. I am eagerly awaiting their next release.
